Job Description: Camps Assistant Head Coach
Location: ECTA (Exact Camp Location)
Position Title: Camps Assistant Head Coach
Reports To: Head Coach
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hours may vary based on specific camp needs)
Compensation: $25-$27 per hour
Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organized individual to serve as the Camps Assistant Head Coach at our ECTA location. This role involves overseeing daily camp operations, supervising coaches, counselors, skills coaches, and EBC Aides, as well as managing backstage operations for performance camps. The Assistant Head Coach will also maintain strong communication with parents and assist the Head Coach in ensuring the smooth running of all camp activities. This is a leadership role that requires strong organizational skills, effective team management, and a professional, approachable demeanor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Camp Operations & Daily Oversight:
- Under the guidance of the Head Coach, manage the day-to-day operations of the camp, ensuring a structured and safe environment.
- Oversee daily schedules and make adjustments as needed to ensure smooth transitions between activities and programs.
- Coordinate and manage the logistics of performance camps, including backstage management, and ensuring all equipment and materials are in place for performances.
- Monitor and adjust the activities of Skills Coaches, Counselors, and EBC Aides, ensuring they are adhering to camp guidelines and maintaining a high standard of quality performance.
- Supervision & Staff Management:
- Supervise, mentor, and provide feedback to the camp’s staff, including Skills Coaches, Counselors, and EBC Aides.
- Lead daily team meetings to ensure alignment on camp goals, priorities, and staff needs.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff to resolve any issues or challenges they encounter during the camp day.
- Parent Communications:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for parent inquiries, providing updates on campers’ progress and addressing any concerns or special requests.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding camp schedules, upcoming performances, and other important information.
- Maintain a professional and positive relationship with parents, helping ensure their satisfaction with the camp experience.
- Backstage Management (Performance Camp):
- Manage the backstage operations during performance camps, ensuring everything runs smoothly before and during shows.
- Coordinate the flow of performers, staff, and materials to ensure a professional and seamless experience during rehearsals and performances.
- Ensure all performance-related materials (costumes, props, etc.) are organized and ready in advance of shows.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with the Head Coach to implement camp curriculum and goals.
- Assist with staff training and ongoing professional development to ensure a high standard of performance and safety.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive environment among the camp staff, encouraging teamwork and morale.
- Safety & Risk Management:
- Ensure all camp activities are conducted in accordance with safety protocols, including the management of physical activities and performance routines.
- Respond to any safety or medical issues that may arise, working with the Head Coach to ensure the well-being of all campers.
- Store and provide medications to campers according to Sanca’s policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Proven experience in camp leadership or coaching, with a strong background in managing a team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with staff, parents, and campers.
- Professional and approachable demeanor, with a focus on maintaining a positive camp atmosphere.
- Ability to handle performance camp logistics, including backstage management, with precision and calm.
- Prior experience working with children or youth in a camp or educational setting.
- First Aid and CPR certification (required by start of camp).
- Preferred:
- Background in performing arts, circus arts, or a related field.
- Experience in managing a diverse team of coaches, counselors, and support staff.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move quickly between camp areas, assist with physical activities, and lift or manage performance materials and equipment.
